AZEB GRAY
returns to the Center this year to work with our Downstairs Preprimary
Class. We first met her when her daughter Galila, now a student at
Harvard, was a preschooler at the Center. Azeb completed her studies at
the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in Ridgewood and is a
certified Montessori teacher. Her beautiful smile and gentle ways make
her equally popular with children, parents, and staff. Fluent in French,
Azeb is currently a student at Rockland Community College where she has
already obtained her Child Development Associate credential and is
continuing to further her studies in early childhood education.

MARĶA
McNENNEY
studied sociology and psychology at Manhattan College and worked as a
translator for unionized companies before joining us in 1998. Like Azeb,
we met Marķa when her daughter Jacqueline was a student here. She became
interested in Montessori educational philosophy and completed her
preprimary certification through the American Montessori Society. She
now works in our DPP classroom, directing Montessori curriculum and
providing Spanish lessons for our full-day children. |

MARĶA ELENA TORRES
is a graduate of Lehman College with a major in psychology and a minor
in education. She loves working with our children and never has a cross
word for either staff or students! Elena completed her studies at the
Center for Montessori Teacher Education at the College of New Rochelle.
In addition to her teaching position in the DPP, Elena supervises the
children at lunch and also teaches Spanish in our afternoon Upstairs
Preprimary Class. Known for her sunny, cheerful disposition, Elena is a
skilled seamstress and famous for her sewing projects. |
